My two exchanges on social media were about Ron Jermey and Gone with the Wind.
First, The Ron Jeremy thing….he was a dude who hit his peak of celebrity for being a slimy pornstar they compared to a hedgehog. He was a novelty that everyone exploited, a joke or a punchline. He played up the hairy, fat, gross pervert porn dude well and basically became a meme who could suck his own dick.
So the dancing monkey he became, assumed people expected that persona or song and dance and they’d line up for Selfie with him, where he’d grab their tits, you know see how far he could go…he was a fucking pornstar in the 80s…they aren’t stand up citizens in the world….So he clearly believed his own hype and kept up the act…long after it was funny….or appreciated…
Then the whole Gone With the Wind protest, that is resurfacing because HBO put it back up with some intro explaining the context. People are mad that it glorifies slavery because the book was written by a southern slave supporting confederate who wanted to paint some picture of a romantic relationship between slave and owner….fine….rather than an evil one that was more than likely the real version of slave ownership….
I don’t object any intro to explain the context, but I do find it sad. We should be at a place where we know Gone with the Wind isn’t a documentary, but rather a fictional account of an era, that is being romanticized. It would be NICE if people could decipher fact from fiction across the board! People are trained to believe everything they see/read. I blame marketing!
I just think it’s just proof that the school systems are failing, the marketing machines have really created a mess of our brains….and they’ve won….
Not able to decipher fact and fiction….because you’re dumb as shit…is the true insanity..
